alt light showed we had a bad alt

alt light showed we had a bad alt. so we put a rebuilt one on there,now it isnt keeping the battery charged,and the light in the dash wont come on.

we had a warning light come on, telling us that we had a bad alternator,so we replaced alt, now battery wont stay charged,like maybe alt. isnt charging it.the light that originally warned us of the alt. problem, doesn't come on now either.

At idle what does the voltage at the battery read?

sorry gueys got all tied up in finding the problem.thanks so much for the help,but i think maay have found the problem.turns out one of the wires on alt. had came off.thanx a lot for all the help.i love these fix it web sites.they r so great for folks like me who cant really afford a mechanic.ill be back if i ever need to.

Yeah with a problem like yours most likely it was a wire or fuse problem. That's why I wanted to see what the alternator was putting out. Then we would have gone thru all the alternator inputs. Glad to hear you got it all figured out that's what we like to hear.Come back and ask a question anytime.
