Hi Folks,

I have a battery light on dash and my battery is not charging.
I replaced alternator and started engine and no battery light.
Then I drove a few miles and light is back on and battery is not charged
I went cheap on buying a cheap partially rebuild alternator.
Or maybe the problem is not alternator but wiring or connector, etc?

Hi Gregory,

We need to perform an alternator test. If the alternator is charging but the battery is drained then it can cause that light to come on as well so we need to have the battery tested as well.

Basically this light is telling you that the overall charge of the vehicle that the PCM is reading is not sufficient.

It could be the battery, alternator, wiring, or a PCM. The fact that the light goes off and then comes back on makes me think either the alternator is bad or the battery is weak.

Keep me posted on what you find. Thanks

Sorry for delay. Was a bad battery.
I sold the car. Good riddance to Glemlins.
Thanks again.

Failed batteries are the worst. They cause all sorts of crazy issues. Glad you got it resolved and unloaded the car. Hopefully it will be just fine for someone else. Thanks for using 2CarPros.
