In 2017 we had our alternator replaced along with the battery, since then the alternator keeps going bad, we are going on the fourth time now. what can cause this? it is expensive to keep paying for it to be replaced. both parts however are under warranty. just trying to wrap my head around how it can go bad so fast and so often.

Good morning,

There is an underlying issue for this. I doubt very much you can get four alternators that are bad. the batteries only need to be charged, not replaced.

In the fuse box is something called an ELD or electronic load detector. That is a common failure where everybody thinks the alternator is bad when if fact the ELD is the issue.

It is inside the fuse block and some you can just replace the ELD and some you have to buy a fuse box to get it. I would have it checked to make sure it is bad but from the indications, it sounds like the issue.
