I have a 97 S-10 and I put a new fuel pump on it 3 months ago. Since then it will crank and run about a week then I will get in it and it will crank and spit an sputter then die an when it does this it will not start for about 3 days. The fuel pump will not run when you turn the key on either. then about 3 days of sitting I can turn the key on and the fuel pump will run and it will start and run fine for about a week maybe 2. Please help if you have any ideals of what might be the problem.

[quote:c60e16811c="techman1"]My S10 is doing the same thing. Now granted, I had a worn out 175,000 mile engine, so I bought an 80,000 engine and put it in and all new sensors to include MAP sensor, Oxygen sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, Ignition Coil, Transistor Pack under the distributor cap, Idle Air Control motor, etc, etc, etc and I'm having the same problem. The only thing that makes sense is weak voltage from the key switch on the steering column. I haven't got to that yet.[/quote:c60e16811c]

I figured it out techman 1 is was my fuel pump wiring harness. It made my new pump burn a wire into and I replaced the harness and fixed the wire now it runs like brand new..
