My car was rear ended a couple months ago. It had 71k miles and needed 4k in repairs. The muffler is very loud now and my insurance co will not repair it until a mechanic says what is wrong with it. Two mechanics have looked at it and said 'yes' it is a little loud, but don't know why. I think this is crazy and I do not want to have to foot the bill to replace the exhaust system when my insurance should pay.
