While traveling to Ga. we had transmission problems. The engine would slam into high,low,high,low and so on it would do it intermittently and than constantly. The next morning I found a shop of Good' ole boys and they went right to it and it was a gear selector switch. Might not sound the same but maybe the start of it.

I had a similar problem of it shifting hard into drive. I replaced the selector switch with a spare that I had and that didn't help. I went to see a friend at a local transmission shop and he told me to disconnect my battery for about 5 minutes and that might reset a different switch in the transmission. I did what he said and it shifts perfect again. Try this to see if it works for you too.
