I have a 92 caravan that is in the shop getting a new engine. About a year ago I noticed when highway driving for atleast an hour (at 100-110 km/hr) that the engine would rev on its own to about 3000 rpm for a few seconds then drop back down to the usual 2250 rpms but the speed would not change...this happened also while using cruise. It did this for about a month then stopped for a year and started doing it again recently. I think it seemed to be happening in colder weather. I've been told it could be a sensor on the tranny but now that I'm getting the engine replaced...it blew at 308,000km they told me it could be a sensor on the engine...any ideas?
