89 crx problem

it will crank and crank and sometimes it sounds like it wants to start or it will back fire.. i put a another motor in it and it still has the same problem.so i guess it not the motor i cheaked all my grounds but there is a wire broke its the tempature switch would that cause it not to start? my altenator is bad i think. my battery shows it is charged but it wont start? why does it show its charged but not start? could it be my altenator? if i use jumper cables it will crank but not start up? please help!

fuel pump comes to mind and even fuel regulator on end of fuel rail, or even the injector moduel.

Also check the nutural safety switch, this item is located right behind the clutch arm on top. For a quick check apply E-brake and make sure it's in nutural and then feel for the switch and depress and hold in button on the end of the switch with your finger and at the same time try to start the car. If the car starts this is your problem you can either buy a new one or cut the wires connected to the switch and twist them together.
