I have an 87 F150 302 fule injected. It runs fine when I first start it when its cold, but after while when it warms up it hesitates when I hit the gas and most of the time it'll die. Any time I try to start it when its warm even if I shut it off, it will turn over and not fire, but when I hold the gas down it will fire once and send out a big puff of black smoke and then won't start. It will do this every time until it cools down. Then it will run like it did when it was cold. A friend suggested that I replace the idle air control valve, so I did and it didn't change anything. I'm at my wits end and need to get the succor goin'. What should I check or do next?

The injector is new, and the distributor has been replaced.

I changed the temp. sensor and that fixed how it wouldn't run very well when it was warm, now it don't hesitate or die when I hit the gas, but it still won't start after its warm.

I have a 93 f150 w/302 and I am having this same problem with mine. I have replaced every sensor on that motor! I have replaced fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter. I have checked fuel pressure and timing. Replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I cannot figure mine out either. So before you waste any more money, don't. I am to the point I'm just about to take it into the shop. I do this kind of work part time and can't figure it out. I know this info doesn't help, just thought I would pass it on so you don't waste any more money on a never ending battle!
