2003 pathfinder catalytic converter

i just bought a 2003 pathfinder.

with the engine running, exhaust gas leaks along the seams of BOTH catalytic converters.

is this normal????

i just bought a 2003 nissan pathfinder with 45k.

with the engine running, i can hear and feel exhaust gas escaping along the seams of both converters.

is this normal???
