2002 Questions for all other cars Front Wheel Drive Manual

I have a 2002 MG ZR recently purchased. When it went into a garage a couple of weeks ago the alarm worked on it but now it doesnt nothing happens. The key fob does not work even with a new battery and before the lights flashed when using the key to say that it has been turned on or off but the lights dont do owt anymore. Could the mechanics unplugged a wire or summots on the alarm for it not to work?

Please help.

Thanks
Dean

The key fob on this vehicle operates the door locks as well ? do they still work ? did it go into a dealer ? the alarm/immoboliser on this model can be bypassed using a four digit code.. this effectively disables it ..the 4 digit code is different for every car and is supplied with the handbook .. you can reactivate the alarm with the same 4 digit code using the drivers door lock .. if i remember rightly the alarm cannot be unplugged without immobolising the car .. i will check into this for you

No the key fob does not do anything, not even unlock the car. Im stuck with what it is. The car only went in to a normal garage to get its alternator and fuel pump changed.

You mentioned you put a new battery in the keyfob .. on this type of car you only get 30/40 seconds to swap battery's if this is not done this quickly .. then the fob loses it's coding to car and has to be reset .. reulting in the fob doing absolutely nothing ..it needs to be recoded back to the ECU/PCM .. this can only be done via computer at dealers or garage with necesary software
