2001 f-250 diesel

i could use just a little bit more inf other than it is a diesel. is it a 7.3 power stroke or is it a indirect injected 7.3 and how may miles


Have you tryed useing a little staring fluid to see if it is going to hit?

what type fuel filter did you use? ford does not recondomend useing wix even know there the best.

they say there too high to fit the houseing and it breaks the heater in the bottom of the fuel filter houseing this in on( powerstroke only ) also check the connectors at the valve covers pull the plugs and smell them if they smell like burnt bakolite then suspect the valvecover gaskets the injectors are oil pressure and electricaly fired. the oil pressure from the pump has to be at 600 psi before. the injectors fire. do all of these test first then let me know. if the truck was running good you may very well have a bad cam possion sensor they will just shut one down. around where i live there about 100.00 bucks mounted out on the front of the engine to the left side of the harmonic balancer. 8) NOS COUTION you should not probe any wireing on a power stroke unless you have good knowledge of the system it carries 110 volts and can give you a shock you won't soon forget. :oops:

i used a fram filter...as far as checking the other things, i'll give it a shot..and yes, it was running fine...this all started with changing the glow plug relay..it ran great for one day then everything went to crap...

If it's turning over but not starting.. then it really sounds like there's air in the system somewhere.. or that bad tank of fuel you had messed your injectors up.. Or worse the pump..

Try loosing the fuel lines at the fuel pump and turning over till there's fuel coming out.. then tighten and repeat..

I know this is going to sound really dumb.. but when you put the fuel filter back on you filled it with fuel right? Sorry always gotta ask the basics.. no offense meant...

it's gettin' fuel, it's even trying to start..i really hope it isn't the injectors! =) the pump is working fine too. got it started on starting fluid, but won't stay running...run good on starting fliid...where can i buy starting fluid in 55 gal. drums? LOL...

If it starts on startin fluid it still could be the injectors.. but take the filter off.. make sure its full.. it still sounds to me like there's a BIG ole' air bubble in it..

now that i know it is a powerstroke. on a powerstroke you can't really get air in the lines cause the fuel runs through the heads. unlike the indirect injected where you can see the fuel lines.

was the truck getting hard to start is that why you changed the glow plug relay?

ok before i tell you to change the crank sensor. you first need to check the other things that i suggested the plugs at the valve covers these plugs are what feeds the glow plugs and the electric's to your injectors. if there burned up nither will work. let me know. the only thing i can rely on is you info and you eyes and noise cause i'am not there. so you got to help me to help you. 8) NOS Also how many miles is on this truck?

ok, i've got the truck running again, contaminated fuel was a big issue, so got it running, but stil runs rough at idle, i got some sensor cleaner, and sprayed it on the sensor in the air cleaner box...it started runnig very good again, but as soon as the temp went back to normal, (THE SPRAY WAS VERY COLD) i took the sensor out and sprayed again, thing the fumes might make it run better, but no, it was the sensor(air charge temp. sensor)got one ordered, will be in wed. i hope this solves my problem! if not i'll let ya know.
