1999 Grand prix 3.8

The switch is located at top of the transmisson and has several wires in a harness attached to it and the linkage for the shifting rod goes through it . Hey Eric,
Your shifter interlock is actuated by either the brakelight switch (on your pedal) or an additional switch next to the brake light switch. try checking the connections there and its operation, additionally was the solenoid at the shifter good?

The solieniod is good @ shifter
Does that switch control the key
The key will not return to its place to take it out
until you hit the release under steering colum

ummmmmm I think putting shifter in park controls that lock on the steering/key. I want to say a micro switch in the shifter assembly. But I'm not 100% positive How bout it GM techs, any body??
