1998 Questions for all other cars Ratling and loose gear sti

I have recently bought a rover 620 sdi it gives a nice drivr but for the gear stick that rattles like hell when accelerating but is quiet when coastinf i.e using throttle to maintain speed only. The garae I bough it from are supposed to looking at it soon and I need some advice to ensure they do the job proerly can you help me
