1994 mer. grand marque won't come out of park

when i start the car and it is running i can't get the shift lever to move out of park. if i shut it off and turn the ign. key on i am able to shift it to neutral and start the car there and everything runs fine from that pos. :roll:

found a broken wire on brake switch. ford motor co. wants you to have your foot on the brake petal when you take your car out of park. the switch disengages a pin in the shifting lever enableing you to move the shifting lever
