hi, my son has a '93 dakota 200,000 miles, 2.5, 5-speed.
EGR code comes up. I applied Vacuum directly to EGR and the shaft moves and RPM's drop. I cant get any vacuum to the transducer(2000 RPM drop) How do I test the EGR solonoid on the firewall?

Also, his idle speed is too high. Between shifts it stays in the 2000-3000 RPM range. It takes way to long for it to idle back to normal. And just a light touch of the gas in nuteral, it reves to 1500 a second or two later. Im thinking the [u:3abccbc64b]Idle Speed Control Motor[/u:3abccbc64b]? Should I replace it?

Could these 2 issued be related?

Thanx, Wayne

i drive a 95 dakota myself, and i have noticed that my rpm's are quite similar to your son's in between shifts, im not 100% sure but i think thats just how that engine rides. It has driven like that since i bought it, i've also noticed that when slowing down to a stop the engine idles at 1500 then drops to 900-1100 at a dead stop. It also takes a fairly long time to decrease rpms at any time.

dont know if that helped at all, sorry.
