1991 Pathfinder engine

I have a 1991 Pathfinder with 148,000 that the timing belt went out on. I had it replaced and now there is no compression in cylanders 1 & 4. Is there an easy and inexpensive way to fix this or do I need a whole new engine?

improper timing can affect compression because the valves aren't closed fully when they should be, allowing room for pressure to escape. be sure that the timing marks are aligned correctly. if you're not sure, then definitely take it to an experienced technician. if that doesn't correct the problem, you may have more serious internal engine issues.

Sounds like you have a non-interference engine.

Invest in a workshop manual, remove the timing belt, and make sure that you fit it correctly.
