My son has a 1990 Maxima, 4cyl. The battery went dead and when we tried to jump start the car, an alarm sounds each time we hook up the jumper box. What are we doing wrong?
Note: The cables were hooked up correctly.

I basically have the same problem, except no alarm. the battery/electrical system just craps out, especially when it gets cold out. Does this happen in all types of weather or just the cold?

It could be that Maximas that are as old as ours are (mine is a 95) just begin to have failing electrical systems after X amount of miles/years. Sorry I wasn't much help, but I just wanted you to know that other people out there have the same problem
