I have a 1989 Caprice with 150000 plus on it. Engine is a 305 I believe? When I started it this morning it was very cold, -22 degrees, it started fine and I let it warm up for a bit. When I put it into drive it wouldn't move. I put it into reverse and it backed up fine then put it into drive again and it went forward very slowly. I could only get it to go about 20mph. I continued driving thinking it needed to warm up and it shortly started acting normally. After work the same thing happened, reverse was fine, put it into drive and it hesitated but started going forward very slowly. It then seemed to go into neutral and will not go into drive. Reverse is fine. Could this just be a fluid/filter problem or is my transmission toast? Please help.
