1987 B2200 with 20k on rebuilt engine, header exhaust and Weber 2bbl carb. Will not exceed 4k rpm in 5th gear, but will go past 4k in all other gears. Top speed about 83. Mileage around 23mpg highway. I have a 1986 B2000 with the same mods, 170k on the engine, that gets 28 mpg and tops out at 97mph. any ideas why the newre truck doesn't get the same performance? Thanks

first of all is it the same engine? The Mazda b series refers to the displacement of the engine. for example the b2000 had a 2.0 liter engine and the 2200 had a 2.2 liter engine. You have to make sure that they are the same engine INTERNALLY because they are going to look the same externally.
