Alarm goes off every 20 minutes

just recently bought privately the car listed above.

When test driving the car and talking with previous owner for about an hour. The car alarm never went off. Maybe because the doors were unlocked.

However, I brought the car home, parked and locked it. The alarm goes off like every 20-30 minutes.

I've taken the battery out of the keys.

Nothing.

I had to disconnect the battery from the car, because I didn't want neighbors to complain. How do I fix or completely disconnect the alarm system?

We need to start with scanning for codes. I suspect we have an issue with the central control module that controls the comfort systems and the alarm system. Basically this module gets signal from the door switches and other things to see if the door gets opened with the alarm on. If it does, it turns the alarm on.

Unfortunately we have to deactivate the system using the key fob to unlock the doors but if this is not disabling it then I am sure there are some codes.

Hi. Thank you, and yes the car runs. I have had to leave the doors unlocked and it seems to stop the alarm. However, the problem now, is my car is accessible lol is disabling the fob hard? I have no knowledge but I'm fast at learning.

Okay. That is good info. I suspect you have a door switch issue or something else causing this.

However, to answer your question, you cannot disable the system as it is a safety system that if easily disabled, a thief would just disable it and get into the car.

I suspect you only option is to lock the car without using the key fob. So can you lock the door manually and it not activate the alarm? Without finding out what is triggering this, I suspect that is the only option.
