A/C system removal

Good morning,

Did the compressor lock up? If not, you can just run the car without using the A/C.

There is no need to remove it from the car. If the compressor is locked up, then yes, something will need to be done.

Can you give me some more information about the issue?

As Roy says there is no real need to remove the system.
If the front pulley bearing is okay, just unplug the power lead to the clutch and it becomes an idler. If the clutch bearing is what is locked up you could remove the compressor and get the belt and idler used on the non-ac vehicles. However I wouldn't. That is for a couple reasons. First is that on your car the A/C isn't just used when it's hot, it also operates in the winter when you select defrost. It runs to dry out the air and prevent fog or icing inside the windows. Second is that it really isn't much more to replace the compressor and keeping the system intact versus removing it and plugging the rest of the system off, which in all likelihood will also set codes.
