I have a airbag code 1-9 which I search online and it says it's a short from the airbag to the battery. I took it to a shop and was told it was my alternator which I didn't think it was but he seemed pretty confidant. I had him change it and I'm still having the same code. I'm not 100% sure if it's the clock spring or not but that's been my opinion. The passenger airbag light off light does not stay lit with nobody in the seat. So I'm thinking it's something to do with that. Need some advice. Thanks

Good afternoon,

The code indicates an issue with the driver's side airbag module.

You need an advanced scan tool to monitor the airbag system to do all the needed checks.

This is not something you should do with a test light or voltmeter due to the possibility of setting off the airbag.

Do you have a scan tool that can do functional testing on the airbag system?

I have a edge evo programmer. Other than that I do not have an advanced scan tool. Also the airbag light doesn't come on all the time.

Got it.

It is possible you have a bad connection as the light is not consistent.

I really feel you need to have someone check it for you to at least tell you the issue. The repairs you can perform your self but I am worried that you could deploy the airbag by doing testing. I always err on the side of safety.
