After a steering column change, ignition switch powers dash/lights/aux but starter will not turn?

Hi,

The backup lamp switch is on the transmission, so I'm not sure what you are seeing near the steering column. Also, there are two fuses you need to check in the under-hood fuse box.

If the backup lights don't work, are you sure the shift linkage is adjusted properly? Will it crank in any other gear?

Take a look at the pics below and let me know if they help with the reverse lamps. I think once we get that figured out, the starter will also engage.

Thanks so much for your reply! These were helpful, and now the backup lights are functioning properly.

The column needed to be replaced due to a mechanical seize deep down in the ignition mechanism. That’s been addressed with the new column that’s now properly in there from what I can tell.

Alas, still no life in the starter.

- starter will not crank in any position

- shift linkage is well adjusted, and I can cycle through all positions.

Okay, I attached the starting system circuit schematic below. I highlighted three fuses I need you to check. In addition to checking the fuses, confirm there is power to and from them.

Note: The ignition fuses A and C should have power at all times, regardless of the key position. On the other hand, the crank fuse will only have power while the key is in the start position.
