1992 Acura Vigor GL 325,000 km. I have had a leak from my distributor since 190,000 kms. I have taken it to several shops, each time the O ring has been replaced to NO AVAIL. Apartently there is an additional seal inside the distributor that is not available??????? As I have mentioned this has been going on for some time, and been for repair 4 times and cost $$$$. Short of replaceing the distributor, is there anything I can do? The smell is getting to us as the oil leaks onto the manifold. Thanks.

First off use a bit of paint to mark the location of the distributor to the engine to not screw up the timing. Take off distributor and you might try replacing the o rings with a slightly oversized one.

I am going to email you an exploded diagram of the distributor.

Hi James, Here is an exploded view of the distributor. The most common cause of leaking would be the 2 pcs of "O" rings and the oil sela insode the housing. The size of the seal should be 12.5 x 22.5 x 7 mm Bruce is correct, using O rings 1/2 a size thicker works. Distributor position for this model is fixed so you do not have to worry about the installation. However if you were to replace the oil seal, make sure you mark the rotor position in relation to the rear coupling. Failure to do so could result in rotor 180 degrees off the mark.
