1994 Acura Vigor How can I read the engine codes ?

Your form didn't have the option , but this is a 5 cyl engine. *Can you tell me how I can read the codes, the engine light is on. I'm an electronic tech. I beleive the Acura Vigor requires a special code reading box compared to other pre 96 cars. Please tell me another way to retreive the codes ? Acura wants $125 to do it. Thanks
