I took my TL for a standard service recently to the dealership. Before the service i noticed transmission fluid from under my car when in park. The spots were sporadic, and I assume were occurring from the fluid leaking out while I was driving the car.
The dealer said I probably have a crack in the top of the transmission and it is leaking out the top when i am driving. . more so when i am up and down hills. He said the fluid was down about a quarter (still 3/4 full). He already suggested, without diagnostic, that i would be looking at a new transmission (4k in parts, 3k in service). He said I need to come back for a diagnostic, they topped the fluid off. I am hesitant to spend this kind of money on what should be a pretty decent transmission for a 60k Acura. Dont really trust these people. .they sucked 1400 out of me last month for a new radiator they said was leaking. . i was in a rush and got the job done; this is too much money to not investigate further.
Do you have any ideas of what else it could be?
If it is a crack, is there anything to do other than replace the whole transmission?
p.s. the car is running just fine. . no gear shifting issues whatsoever.
Warm Regards,
Tom
