For at least a month or more, I have occasionally seen whitish/gray smoke coming from under my hood closest to the firewall when I stop an idle.
I immediately stop and turn off engine and open hood but nothing is visible. I checked for low fluids, burnt wires, etc. and nothing is visible including no instrument warning indicators. My AC stopped working yesyerday and I noticed once yesterday the same smal amount of smoke (more like a vapor) coming from the front vents in the cabin. This time I stopped and opened the hood and removed the cover over the AC compressor. All I saw was what appered to be a small leak in the rear (high pressure) hose going to the evaporator. Have not noticed any unusal noises. Is it just leaking or do you think its the compressor? Any ideas would be helpful.

sounds like you need to replace the ac line that is leaking. The ac stopped working beacause of lack of freaon in system beacause of leak.
