Transmission problem

I was getting gas this morning and when I went to leave the station I accidentally started my car while it was in reverse. I shut the car off immediately and put it in park and restarted it and since then when I stop the engine sounds like it is in gear and wants to go. When I put it in park and stop it makes that same sound. No other problems other then the engine noise doesn't come to an idle sound when I am at a stop. Will this reset itself or have I done something majorly wrong.
