Engine Mechanical problem
1996 Acura TL Front Wheel Drive Automatic 210000 miles

I was driving down the road.......car got hot...died going down road would not start back. It also turned over really fast. I orginally thought timing belt broke or jumped but did not. I took to shop they claimed they did compression check and there wasnt any said it melted the engine down. It has sit for six months there til i went got it last night. I looked around the engine and the distributor cap was melted and seperated from head about a inch. I took spark plug out and put my hand over whole and turned engine over 4 times. It sucked my hand down and shot it back off???????????????????????????????what now?????????

Hi there,

I would be getting a new comp test done, have it done wet & dry this will give a good indication as to the condition of the rings, post the comps here for further assistance.

I went and got a compression guage anddone it my self I got the screw in kind and I took the first plug out which is the number one cylinder and hit the key. It didnt move the guage far enough toeven read. It does spin over fairly easy There is no internal engine noise. What do you recommend

Hi there, i think that you have blown the head gasket between the two cylinders, if No 2 is the same, then this is a fair chance of what has happened, check No 2, and if the same or very low, the head will have to come off.
