Acura MDX Check Engine Light - Gas Smell

My check engine light on my 2001 MDX is on and I have a strong gas smell gas by the gas cap. I tightened it but it still smells. The dealer only says we need to change our gas to Chevron with Techron. The light is still on and the smell is still there.

first have the vehicle's ECU (vehicles computer)read to obtain the DTC to find out if the DTC (diagnostic trouble code) relates to the smell you are getting ? you could always change to a new gas cap to make sure you are getting a complete seal ??
