2008 Acura MDX Broken steering rod

Has this been a problem for this car? The wheel just fell off of my car and Acura is saying that I must have hit a pothole, which I did not do.

Hi there,

This is not a failure that is common, can you advise what exactly happened, as a broken steering rod will not cause the wheel to fall off the car.
