I have a 92 Acura Legend 5-spd. The clutch works fine, all the gears engage fine, but once you are driving above 10mph and you hit the clutch to change gears, the front tires lock up completely. When the car comes to a stop, you can just drive off again until it is time to change gears. I do have some throw out bearing noise, but I wasn't sure if that could cause this severe of a problem. Just to clarify, when the clutch is pressed at speed the tires lock up completely until the car comes to a stop, then it is fine again.

Hi tjfeakbk,

The symptoms desctribed is weird and does not make sense. I can't think of any possible causes for such a problem.

Does the wheels lock up when the gear shift is in neutral?

If you use 2nd speed to take off, does the problem still occur?

I'm not sure if the tires would lock up in neutral, just every time I hit the clutch. And yes it doesn't matter what gear you start off in the tires will lock when you go to shift. I drained the differential and the trans and didn't see any metal shavings anywhere. I am completely baffled, so any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks in advance, Tim

Hi Tim,

This is beyond comprehension, unless you are hitting the brakes instead of the clutch. lol.

When vehicle is moving off while driving, is there any abnormal grinding noise?

Lets give this a try and let me know what it the outcome.

Jack up front of vehicle.
With gears in neutral and engine not running, with an assistant holding one wheel, turn other wheel and listen for abnormal noise in the differential.
Engage a gear and repeat above with clutch depressed (2nd assistant required.
Repeat above with clutch ans other wheel released.
Are there any abnormal noises or restrictions in the turning?
