Engine Performance problem
1991 Acura Integra Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
i just bought a 91 acura integra and it cranks but doesn't turn over. i checked timing and it is right on time however when i did a compression test there is no compression. would a valve job fix that or is there something else it could be??

Did the car over heat? if it did it sounds as if the head gasket blew out.

If all the cylinders have no compression, a valve job would not do unless cause are due to bent valves..

Did you try a wet test to see if the compression increases?

You mentioned timing is ok, so I take it there is nothing wrong with the timing belts as a snapped timing belt would not give much compression.

Hi there,

Wet test means pumping some engine oil into the cylinder via the plug holes and testing the compression again.

When you bought the car, was the engine running well?

Hi importprincezz,

So you had no idea of the history of the vehicle.

Since the engine might have not been running for a long time, the compression might be missing due to dry cylinders.

Just do the wet test as I mentioned and see if you can get the compression.
