Yes, the trust is a tough thing. You can always change the oil yourself. It really isn't that hard once you do it. Plus it gets you familiar with your car. There is “how to do” different items on this website. The choices you have though are the Quick Lube places, gas stations etc. You can always stand there and watch. Not knowing what you don’t trust is a guess. If you don’t think they will change your filter, then mark it somehow where only you know. Again, not knowing what you don’t trust makes this hard. Sometimes kindly explaining your feelings to the manager, he will allow you to watch from a distance.

At several of the local churches here, they have Christian phone books that list business that claim they are Christian. Not sure of your spirituality, but I have used these numerous times with excellent results.

As for the tires well, you have to go somewhere for that. Since you are pressed for time, use time management. Take your car to say a Wal-Mart. While you shop for your weekly groceries they can rotate your tires and change your oil. Again, don’t be afraid to mark your items for follow-up.

Ask around to several of your friends to see where they take theirs. Here locally, there is a family owned, gas station. They still clean your windshield and even vacuum your car and put gas in it.

Check with the better business bureau to see if they have any positive or negative on several of the businesses. Businesses understand that the best or worst advertisement is the customer.

Even the great places you will have problems once in a while. That is a fact of life. To me it is how the folks handle the problem. If they are friendly and aggressive on correcting the mistake, which is all you can ask then okay. We all make mistakes and would like to think that the other person would forgive us and allow us to make it right.

You need to change the oil and rotate those tires…….hope this helps…..

thanks for your advice i really appreciate it. i always get great advice on here so i keep wriiting. heres the story I ended up taking it to a place by my house, i marked my hubcaps before i went to see if they would rotate the tires, i guess they dont switch the entire tire with hubcap but just take the caps off and switch the tires, then i went home and noticed that my oil level wasnt between the 2 dots in the dipstick so i turned my car off and waited 20 minutes to cool off, i had my car on for 5 minutes after the change, so i went back and the man checked it, at this point he was not happy with me questioning things, but it is my baby, plus he said i needed new bearings, new rear brakes, rear brake calipers he said it would cost over 1000 dollars. after that i went home and told myself never again, ill go to my cousins shop which is what i shouldve done in the first place, but i was 300 miles over and i always like to change the oil right away, i guess i was too inpatient and i paid the price, my cousin just said that guy was a bunch of hogwash and was just looking for money. man oh man did i learn a valuble lesson, just take it to family or the same place youve gone forever, i still got to even see if they even put a new oil filter on. im going to my cousins shop on weds. thanks again!!!

No problem on the advice. We try at 2carpros to help the customer out the best we can. Also, some things you may be able to do yourself. This also helps you in looking it over, finding things that need repaired before they get totally broken. Some enjoy this type of thing; some have other hobbies and just enjoy driving it. What ever works for you.

Also, 300 miles, depending on the driving you are doing isn’t that bad if you always keep it up. I agree with you…..I would rather pay a little more and drive a longer distance to know I am going to get proper service. You might pay a little more now in time and money, but like your ordeal, it isn’t’ worth the headache and the possible damage you have to pay in the long run.
Last, not sure how often you change your oil but for your car about every 7500 miles is what is recommended.
