After many, many days of rain this month my Acura has developed a drip in the front passenger side floor approximately where one's right foot would rest. The result has been a very wet carpet and a nasty moldy smell. I have looked under the hood and underneath the car, but can not find a clogged drain or any other obvious cause for the problem. Any suggestions? Your help would be greatly appreciated

Hi movillesfinest,

Thank you for the donation.

If the problem is due to rain, then there should be a leak somewhere around that area.

To verify the source, simulation would be required and before doing so, you would have to dry out the water and flip the carpet up to have a clear view of the area.

Look out for dust stains due to effect of flowing water to identify possible sources.

Use a garden hose to simulate raining. Only with carpet lifted would you be able to see where leakage source is.

If vehicle is with sun roof, check the drain hose at kick panel on passenger side. It could have been dislodged.

Another possible source would be the door panels. Behind the door panel there is a plastic covering which if not properly sealed can cause water to enter the cabin via the door sills.

It is important that the problem be resolved asap as the Power Cotrol Module ( engine computer) is located under the carpet here and prolonged dampness can cause the PCM to go bad sue to presensce of water.
