Engine shuts off when attempting to accelerate

Hi,

The first thing I would recommend is to check fuel pump pressure. If it is low, this can happen.

If you look at the pics below, they provide directions specific to your vehicle for testing pressure. Additionally, the manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications are included.

Also, if the check engine light stays on or flashes when the engine is idling, the computer needs to be scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. Here is a link that explains how that is done:

In both tests, you need specialized tooling. However, often times a parts store will lend the fuel pressure gauge to you. Some will actually lend a scanner, so check and let me know what you are told.
