Hey SARAHHAMMOND87,

If a fault is seen with the heater controls for safety the heater will default to defrost. This will generally mean hot air and stuck in the windshield vent position.

Is this what you have?

Do any of the A/C or heat controls work?

This is pointing towards the Audio/HVAC module that you are unplugging being faulty.

If you have a multimeter i will attach below the instructions for testing for power and ground to the unit. It also shows the fuse to check which you can do without test equipment, guide below:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

If you have power and ground but no control from the unit i would suspect a faulty module in this case.

If you could get a donor unit to try that would be the quickest way to make sure it is the module before replacing.

Any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hope that helps.

Regards, Joe
