My car's AC not cooling even though I have added some Freon. System hold pressure, thus there is no leak, and I can hear the relay clicks to start the compressor but there is moderate cool air blows. There is no noise or grinding from compressor. It is very quiet.

I have read all your responses about AC not cooling and compressor seizing problems. However, the compressor is very quiet and can see that it is turning (belt not slipping over compressor). In addition, I have checked the AC diode, fuses and what not. All okay.

Do you still believe that the compressors is the problem? I do not want to spend money and time to figure out something else could be the problem.

I appreciate your response.

Thanks,

AB

Good evening.

The first thing that needs to be done is to check the actual pressures while it is running. We need the high and low side readings to see what is happening.

If you do not have a set of gauges, you can rent a set at a parts store or buy a cheap set at Harbor Freight.

Thank you Roy. What would be the high and low side pressure setting?
Thanks

Okay, easy formula.

The high side is variable depending on out side temperature.

The high side should be two times ambient temperature plus 15%.

The low side should be 25-30 lbs rock solid.

Pressures do not indicate Freon level.
