A/C Knob and A/C not working?

When I first start my car the A/C does not work. I have to wiggle the A/C Knob to a specific number on the knob which is number 4 and hold it there for a couple of minutes in order for it to turn on. If I release the knob the A/C will turn off. If I leave the A/C knob on number 4 and leave it alone, the A/C will turn on after about 5 minutes and will stay on until I turn off the car.

Hi,

Are you referring to the blower motor speed? If so, is number 4 the high-speed setting? Can you make it run at any other speed?

Let me know. The idea that you need to wiggle the knob makes me think the controller is faulty. However, if it only runs at high speed, it sounds like the blower motor resister.

The resister is behind the glove box. I attached a pic of it for your reference.
