AC Issues

When you say the compressor spins constantly, do you mean the electric clutch on the compressor is engaging? If so, chances are there is a problem with the air temp cable or lever under the dash. If I recall, there were issues where the lever that the cable attached to broke and the cable couldn't move it.

I attached three pictures. The cable and control lever (if I recall correctly) should be approximately where your right knee is when driving. It's under the dash, right side of driver's side. Take a look at pictures 1 and 2. Picture 1 shows the air mix lever. That is the one of concern. Picture 2 shows how it moves back and forth with the cable to obtain desired temps. The last picture is the lever that would often break. Make sure the cable is tight and moving when you adjust the temperature to cool as well as the lever.

Do this and let me know what you find. Also, if the cable is broken or the lever is damaged, you should be able to manually turn that component to get AC. However, you will need to turn it back in the winter.

That works fine, just took the pressure with the A/C system running, see the picture! The clutch is engaging, but the pressure is the same! Would this be the compressor?

If they are that close, I have a feeling the compressor itself is the problem. The high side should be much higher than 50. What was the temperature outside when you tested it?

The temperature was around 85-90 F.

Car was parked in the shade.

I hate to say it, but my first suspect is the compressor in this case.

I wish I had a better answer for you, but the compressor isn't doing its job. That's why it is so low.

You were right, I replaced the compressor (along with the condenser, receiver-drier, and expansion valve for preventive maintenance). It works like a charm now, hopefully the same thing that caused it to blow in the first place doesn’t happen again! Thanks
