I troubleshooted and the condenser comes on and the fan as well. It blows cold then I hear a change in sound and it switches to heat although I did not touch any dials. It also will not blow outside cool air. I think it may be a blend door issue but I do not hear any noises like the videos all suggest I should. The air direction does switch when I choose face or legs or defrost but air remains hot even with A/C button on. I check fuses they are good.
I had an auto part store check pressure and they did add some Freon which I do not think was even the issue. I found the blend door but it appears there are two. I am not sure why and I cannot find any diagrams for my car specifically. Is it possible one blend door is for direction of flow and the other is for cold/hot flow? I can get to the blend door and change it but before I try I thought I should ask your opinion.
Thanks for any help.

Hello,

When the blend door actuators fail they do not always make noise because the sensing part the the actuator goes bad. Here is a guide to show you the steps to replace the mode actuator and diagrams below to show the location for your car. Does it blow hot on both sides or just one? Dual zone system?

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Thank you! It blows hot on both sides. What would dual zone be?

Different temperature on either side. See this diagrams below it features both sides. So it sounds like the controller is bad. I would remove the unit and check the electrical connector for corrosion/bad connection which removing and installing the connector can fix. If you get a new controller it might need to be initialized before it will work. Here are diagrams and instructions on how to do the job.

I do not have dual zone. I have the basic push button A/C on/off and the temperature knob that turns from cold to hot. I have a 2010 Fusion SE four cylinder. This diagram shows for a v6, not sure if they are the same. So you think the issue would be the control rather than the blend door? It is odd because my air would not blow cold for two days and now is blowing cold the past day or so. It is so random when it stops blowing cold and switches to hot.

Yep, you are right the left side temperature blend door actuator is the one you want to change, the manual system only has one. Replace the actuator should fix the problem.
