A/C is activated, there is a ticking/fluttering noise?

When the car is turned on with A/C off, there is no noise coming from the engine bay, until A/C is activated, and a ticking/fluttering noise starts to occur. The compressor was switched out a year ago or so and the car still throws out cold air. So, it’s not the problem and when the blower motor is activated without A/C there’s no ticking noise it only happens when A/C is activated, and you press on the gas a little a fluttering starts to happen.

Hi,

When the compressor engages, it places a heavy load on the serpentine belt. Check to make sure the belt is tight and in good condition. The added load, if slightly loose, could cause a fluttering sound from the belt.

Also, if it is loud enough to record, do so and upload it for me to hear.

Hi,

If the belt is in good condition and not ripped or coming apart, that sounds like the compressor itself. Take note if that is where the sound is coming from.

Don't laugh, but you can get an automotive stethoscope at most parts stores for about five dollars. Using it, you can confirm that is where the noise is coming from.
