AC and heat control cable

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

I have attached three pictures which show the cable. None are 100% specific on location, but do show a general area. Also, here are the directions you will need to readjust it when installing it. This starts with disconnecting. However, that has already happened. If the cable did not come out of the clamp, readjustment should not be necessary.

1. Disconnect the air mix control cable from the air mix control arm and clamp.
2. Set the temperature control dial to Max. cool.
3. Turn the air mix control arm, as shown, then connect the end of the air mix control cable to the air mix control arm.
4. Gently slide the air mix control cable housing back from the end enough to take up any slack in the air mix control cable, but not enough to make the temperature control dial move, then snap the air mix control cable housing into the clamp.

Note: The heater valve cable should always be adjusted whenever the air mix control cable has been disconnected.

It has not came out of clamp where the nob controls it, the problem is the other end of the cable wire. The cable wire runs from here to the other end which is behind the glove compartment. It is disconnected on this end and I do not see anything it is suppose to connect to here.

Your diagram refers to this cable as the air mix control cable.

Hi and welcome back. The air mix cable is what is responsible for allowing either heat or AC to enter the vehicle. It is more commonly known as a blend air door/cable. As far as the cable, look at picture 1. You will see an air mix control arm. That is on the bottom right side of the heater box. That is where it should be located.

I am really sorry the pictures are not clearer, but that is what both of my manuals provided.

Thanks for all your help, But I have looked all over and felt all over the heat box and I cannot see or feel anything this cable should hook to.

Hi again. Lets try one more thing. On the passenger side, look under the dash in the bottom center. That is where it should be. Look at picture 1 again that I posted. That is a view looking up at the box. If it is not there, you stumped me. That is where they are all located. Maybe the lever fell off and that is why you cannot find it.

This may be the problem. The control button was moving it from A/C to heat , but when I put it on A/C it was still blowing warm air , so I took it to monkey mug to get it check out. They said the heat door was not closing fully, so they said to solve the problem they had manually set it on A/C and disabled it so it could not be changed. They said when it got cold to bring it back and they would manually set it on heat. My question is, why would they disconnect the cable and remove the lever? Are did they remove the lever or did they break it. Might strange it cannot be found. I have another question if the lever is gone how do they plan on manually moving it from A/C to heat?

Honestly, I have no idea what they did. I will tell you that from experience, it is common for the cable to come loose from the mount. The result, you cannot adjust the temperature because there is no tension on the cable.

Can you upload a picture of where I described so I can see it? Honestly, it does not make sense.

I know how the cable sometimes comes out of the clamp at the knob that controls it, But it has not come out of this clamp, It is the cable on the other end that is under the heat box that is unconnected that I am speaking of.

I am taking back to the people at Monkey Mug this morning and let them figure out what they did. I will let you know what happens.

Well, I took it to Monkey Mug and it took their AC man about one minute to connect the cable back up. He reached up under the dash at the heater and in about a minute he got out of he car and told me it was back on, and I guess he is right it is working now. Sure wish I knew what he did.
