AC blower does not working properly

Sounds like you are having trouble with your blower motor resistor. I am attaching two pictures of its location. You must remove the cover panel under the glove box to gain access. GM has had a few issues with the resistor connection melting. I have circled the resistor in red. Be sure to check the connection well for melting/burnt/poor connection.

I have done quite a few GM's! Hope this helps and feel free to ask any other questions if needed. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

Replaced blower motor and now no air coming out of vents. Can hear it working on all settings and A/C and heat work just don't know where air is going. Not coming out of vents.

First, did you have to remove the fan from the original motor and reinstall it on the new motor? If so, are you sure you sure it wasn't installed backwards which would cause the fan to draw air from the passenger compartment?

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

The blower motor and fan are located in the lower right hand corner of the HVAC module. Service this component as an assembly only.

1. Remove the right side instrument panel (IP) insulator.
2. Move the Body Control Module (BCM) aside. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
3. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.

4. Remove the blower motor retaining screws.
5. Remove the blower motor and fan assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install the blower motor and fan assembly.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the retaining screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

3. Connect the blower motor electrical connector.
4. Install the BCM into position.
5. Install the right side IP insulator.

Put in new blower motor and fan. Came put together in box. Had to add a plug because last person had cut it off to fit old motor.

Is the air coming out anywhere?

Just a little. You can hear it blowing really well just not coming out vents, floor or defrost. Found some leaves so we cleaned those out. Didn't help. Friends checked and said all actuator doors were working...

Something is blocked or maybe even the fan isn't spinning fast enough. Maybe it's loose on the shaft. Honestly, if it's turning and nothing is blocked, there is no other explanation. Have you removed the motor to recheck?

We have taken it out twice to check it. We bought it new from auto store. Guess we will go to a mechanic. Thank you

I wish I had a better answer, but there really shouldn't be anything blocking air flow. If all actuators are working, I'm stumped. It's can be difficult to diagnose when I don't have the car in front of me.

If you could, would you consider letting me know what is found? I would love to know because it isn't making sense to me.

i have a 2000 chevy malabu & the heater does'nt work but it did when I got the car on monday

If the blower motor doesn't work, check blower motor connector for voltage and ground. Purple wire is voltage, black is ground. Also, check applicable fuses, hvac fuse and hi blower fuse. Use a voltage tester.

I did check the Fuse & it was not blown or burnt out, how do I get to this wirering?

There is more than one fuse, did you use a voltage tester on the fuse circuits? Even if the fuse is good, if there is no voltage, the circuit is dead.

The blower motor should be under the passenger side dash. You will probably have to remove, at least, lower part of dash. You will have to use your own initiative as far as removal of dash part. I don't have a procedure for that.

There is a blower relay, under hood fuse box. Pull the relay and use jumper wire between terminal 87 and terminal 30. If fan runs, the motor and ground should be ok and the problem is elsewhere.

Are you handy working around a car?

My wifes car just developed an issue just in time for the coldest time of winter. Her heat will work for a short time when she first starts the car, but will stop after a few minutes. When the heat stops the blower actually shuts off/slows down. Could the heater core be bad? She has had a problem with the fan only working on setting 5 for some time now. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you need a blower resistor, it is located on the passenger side under the dash by the blower motor

I replaced that the other day and it seems like setting 5 is working again but pretty faint. Is it possible I now need to replace the switch?

If the blower motor isn't working, start with checking to see if it has power. If it does, the motor is most likely bad. If there is no power, check the blower motor resister and relay. Also, check fuses.

If the blower is working, make sure the coolant is full. If it is full, start the engine, turn the heat on high, and let the engine warm up. Feel both heater core hoses. Both should be hot. If only one is hot, flush the heater core. If both are hot, check the blend door.
