A/C Blend Door Actuator not working properly?

Hi,

The blend door actuator is responsible for air temp entering the cab. What you described sounds like a problem with the mode door actuator.

The mode door actuator is responsible for airflow direction. Actually, on this vehicle, it is referred to as an air distribution motor. On your vehicle, it is located under the dash on the left side of the HVAC box, (see pic 1).

If you look at pic 2, it explains how it works. What I would suggest is to remove the motor and check to see if it responds when you select the vents. If it doesn't, there is a good chance it is faulty.

Are you able to switch between the floor and defrost?

Yes, it only does floor and defrost. Do you have any hints on what I need to pull to access it? I was able to sneak the side panel off the left side by just pooping the center cover a bit, not sure if I have to pull all that to access or if I can pull the lower dash. It has a lower airbag, so I didn't want to get all crazy pulling the dash until I got some education on it.

I wish I could say what needs to be removed, but I'm not familiar with this model. I will tell you that if there is a cover/insulator between the bottom of the dash and the floor, that will likely need to be removed. Also, if you have airbags to consider, I would suggest doing this.

Disconnect the battery and tie the two cables together for about 20 minutes. This helps discharge any capacitors of power. Then, with the battery disconnected, pull the airbag fuses. That should protect you from an accidental discharge.
