I noticed the right rotor and caliper were totally rusted. I found that there is no brake fluid going to that wheel. I discovered that during an emergency braking situation the car skids to the left and forward for about 20 feet or more. De rusted the caliper and rotor, checked the line going Flushed the brake system and put new fluid in. Still no fluid to that wheel, all other wheels working fine. Long story short, it strongly seems that the valve on that line is stuck in the ABS module. No ABS lights show. Trying to unstick the valve, which is closed tight has been unsuccessful. Went to the salvage yard and found an almost identical ABS unit and car (same interior colors, and all).
However, it is an s60. but is the same year 2006 the same model2.5T, 2wd, is STC like our v70 is and NOT DSTC,, has the same size wheels, tires and rotors, has the same exact numbers on the pump and the brake control module , all the same numbers except while our unit shows it was made in Mexico and has the number 05W ( and three numbers ), the s60 module says it was made in Mexico and has the same 05W beginning,( but the three numbers are off by 51 units made (if that is what it means )
The total module is nice and clean as ours is and all four valves were gushing brake fluid out, when we took it off the car.
Question is.
Can we just take that module and switch it over to our car without causing problems to the system? or does it need to be programmed in some kind of way?
And if it needs to be programmed, how does it need to be and what would the cost be?
and as an alternative can we separate the part of the unit from the pump and control module, and just take the metal rectangular box that the line to the wheels comes out of which houses the valve, and switch that over to our pump and control module, and use that as is, and not have to program it?
Thank you so much for your help.
Here is a picture of the control module from the s60 that has all the same info save for a few numbers from the 05W number on it.
