Abs module damaged during accident

My van was parked in a parking lot in front of a curb stone. Vehicle was rear ended by a pickup with a large trailer hitch on it. Impact was through rear bumper damaging steal frame behind bumper pushed van completely on top of curbs tone and rolled back off of curbs tone. Damaged tie rods among other things. When I picked up van the ABS traction control and service engine light on. Diagnosis was abs module. Insurance company said not from impact because vehicle was not running at the time. can such a major impact on front end (tires took all of the impact) cause ABS module and wheel sensors to fail without car running? thank you.
