I was my ABS module went bad. I cannot afford the $1,500.00 plus cost currently to replace. I was told if I pull the large plug from the module on my vehicle, the car will run normally, it just will not operate the ABS. The car goes into a limp mode because of current situation. Can I unplugged it for now? Thanks in advance.

Hello,

It cant hurt to try, just unplug the module and take it for a drive.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Well that wasn't the response I was expecting from what's considea a car expert. But all does work. Dash notifications light up like ABS light, brake light, four-wheel display goes blank and speedometer doesn't work. But all others function normally. I was hoping I'd get a positive yes or no answer. Just like I'd like to know if it's true that I can't buy a used module off a wreck or parts vehicle because they are exclusive to the car they are attached to....or can they be reprogrammed to use on mine???? Looking for better than just try it for an answer please...any mechanic?

let me add to this, if you have traction control it will be knocked out as well and trans may stay in limp mode. these units can be rebuilt but you have to do without car for a bit then they have to be reprogrammed by a mechanic to your vehicle which rebuilding is quite a bit cheaper and they give pretty good service. check online.
