ABS light on and off randomly

Usually (but not always) when starting it for 1 second, ABS light on. Then turn off it after 1 and restarting, ABS light off.

Occasionally:
ABS light suddenly on when driving. Then stop the car and restart it again, ABS light off.

Code detected:
11 - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Open circuit or Short to power supply
12 - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Open circuit or Short to power supply
13 - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Open circuit or Short to power supply
14 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Open circuit or Short to power supply
51 - Valve Relay fault
61 - ABS Control Module fault
I have changed a new ABS relay Ry1212 but it still happens randomly.

Based on these codes, you have an issue with the ABS control module. Code 61 gets right to the point and tells you to replace the unit. Then the wheel speed sensor codes support that. However, I included the wheel speed code diag because you need to check wiring at the module just to be sure it is the module causing all of these issues.

However, I am confident that you need to replace the ABS due to these codes. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Dear KASEKENNY1, Thank you very much for your recommendation. May I ask if I need to program a second hand ABS control module (GA2A67650 computer box) or I can use it directly? As someone told me that if I buy a new one from Mazda it needs to be programmed but if I buy a second hand (provided that it is normal) I do not need to program it and can be installed and used directly. Thank you very much for your help.

That is correct. One these older vehicles, a used module will operate on your vehicle. However, you are correct that this is a risk because many people sell them as operating when they have an issue. I would not purchase one off the internet unless it is from a company that accepts returns. It is just not worth the risk in getting someone else's issues.

Dear KASEKENNY1, Thank you very much again for your reply. It is very informative. I am trying to buy a second hand one which allows return if it is malfunction. Actually I have purchased a new GA2A67650 but I do not know how to program it.

If you already have the new one you could just call around to some shops and see if they have a scan tool that can program it for you. They will probably charge a small amount but that may be cheaper then getting another module.

Dear KASEKENNY1, thanks again for your reply. Another question is that: Is each ABS computer/control module has its vehicle identification number (VIN)? If so, even I have a second hand computer I still need someone to program it again? Thanks a lot for your help as I know nothing about this issue.

This is what I was eluding to previously on these older vehicles. They do not require the VIN to be programmed to it like more modern vehicles. I do not show any requirements in fact on these so that means once they are programmed, then you can use it as long as it came out of the same make, model, year, and similarly equipped.

Dear KASEKENNY1, thanks a lot for your explanation. May I ask if a malfunction ABS 60A fuse will also lead to a similar phenomenon as I observed? Or the ABS lamp will continue to light up even after turning off the engine and restarting it? Should I also check the fuse?

No bother. This is why we are here. Yes, I would check the fuse. However, it is most likely fine because the codes that you have show that the ABS was functioning, it just appears to have issues causing the codes.

It is easy enough to check the fuse so go ahead and do it but I would be surprised if that is an issue. Let me know if you have more questions or how you make out. Thanks

Dear KASEKENNY1, Thanks again for your help. When I have time I will open the fuse box and have a look. I raised this query just because it also shows (51 - Valve Relay fault) and I have replaced a new one but the problem cannot be solved. I am just puzzling if it relates to the problem about electricity supply.

I saw that one and I guess I made an assumption based on the other codes. However, I attached the testing for it. Basically it tells you to check the fuse and relay, then wiring. If they are all ok, the turn the ignition to the on position and see if the light stays on. If it stays on then replace the module.

The assumption I made is based on the other codes, I think the fuse and relay are fine which means the module is the issue.
